On paper it’s a nice idea ,on the ground however it’s an incredibly bad idea.
I think if you use Outerbridge and you adjust your time a little you can make from Edison to JFK in under an hour. The slow traffic is going across Staten Island . Once you get over the Bridge and go east on the Belt you will be going against the flow of traffic.
If you leave JFK at 4:00 pm there is no way at all that you could possibly make Edison NJ in under 2 hours using any of the East River crossings and then any of the Hudson River crossings. The gist of the problem is this: The routing you described requires you to cross Manhattan at rush hour .Even if you are experienced as I am in driving and navigating NYC traffic, you would have a great deal of difficulty getting from the Brooklyn side of the Williamsburg Bridge to the NJ side of the Holland Tunnel in anything less than an hour.
I didn’t even factor in how long it might take you to get from JFK to the Brooklyn/Manhattan/ Williamsburg Bridges
So bite the bullet , buy an EZ-Pass and use The VZ bridge
